Dear NY Tech Community, |
Welcome to NY Tech Pulse! |
The past few weeks have been packed with exciting developments to help our community thrive in NYC's tech ecosystem. |
🚀 Latest Updates |
Our NY Tech Career platform is launching soon, making it easier for non-technical people to find their path into tech. I'm currently building an AI-powered matching system to connect talent with the right opportunities 😉 Speaking of AI - I just built a full website using AI tools with zero coding experience! Building time: 1 week. Cost: $0. Technical knowledge needed: tiny. It's incredible how technology is making creation accessible to everyone. We're planning several community events for Q1 2024, focusing on AI career transitions, no-code building, and creative tech. Starting with our Christmas Tech Mixer on December 18th!

💡 AI Practice Spotlight: How to build a website with AI |
This time it gets technical. We built a website with AI - and yet, we did not write a single line of code ourselves. We let AI do it for us. We wrote down our requirements, gave feedback, and asked the AI questions. |
Let's start from the beginning! |
What was the goal? Build a basic landing page for a creative project with several sub-brand pages. Add a contact page and newsletter subscription forms where people can sign up to the newsletter, powered by ConvertKit. |
What was the first step? Write down the basic requirements into Claude.ai (ChatGPT may work too, I find Claude a bit more precise for programming tasks). The AI then provides you with ideas on how to build it. Treat the AI as your assistant. Tell the AI: "Please be aware that I am a total beginner in programming, please thus guide me through the project step by step." |
What were the next steps? A lot of following the AI's guide, asking questions and giving feedback. Here are some learnings: |
Give an overall idea of what you want to build and ask the AI first to give you the framework. Make sure to understand what programming languages to use and what requirements there are on your end (i.e. necessary downloads, tools, etc.) If you are stuck: copy-paste the code into AI and say: "There is a mistake, help me." Then let AI troubleshoot for you. Don't share personal information and passwords If your chat gets too long, help the new chat AI with some basic information from your project, i.e. copy the code of one page, to help it get the gist of it. Then keep building.
|
And the result? I built a full website and put it live. It's not perfect and there are some small parts missing, but hey - for someone not familiar with programming, it's amazing to see what we can build with AI: wonderfabe.com |
And now it's your turn! |
Choose a tool you want to build, a process to automate or an AI Agent to build. Give the AI as detailed a description as possible of what you want to build. Then ask it to provide you with a step-by-step guide. If you are stuck, ask for help. NOTE: If the AI is stuck, maybe the way it is built has changed. Help the AI by providing it with relevant documentation. Then move on. Test your results and celebrate when you are done. ❤️🔥

Research Spotlight: Reverse Thinking Makes AI Models Stronger Problem Solvers |
A novel framework studying bidirectional reasoning in Large Language Models reveals groundbreaking findings. Research shows: |
AI models trained with reverse thinking showed 13.53% improvement over baseline performance The technique works across 12 diverse datasets covering commonsense, math, and logical reasoning Models using only 10% of training data with reverse thinking outperformed models using 10x more data conventionally The approach scaled effectively from small to large models The method proved sample-efficient and showed strong generalization to out-of-distribution datasets
|
Key Takeaway: Rather than just optimizing forward reasoning, enabling AI to think both forward and backward significantly improves problem-solving capabilities - similar to how humans verify solutions by working backwards. The models become more efficient learners, needing less data to achieve better results. This challenges assumptions that complex reasoning requires massive amounts of training data. |
